Border Collies are descendant from the border countries of the British Isles between Scotland and England. This is where they became one of the finest sheepherding dogs of the times. The Border Collie is well suited to life in the suburbs as long as they given regular excercise and are incorporated into the social life of their owners. The are excellent watch dogs, loyal, affectionate and intelligent. They are equally happy playing with children, excel at obedience training, agility, flyball or any activity that involves use of their active brain and athletic body. Border Collies can be destructive around the home or garden, or escape their surroundings if they are neglected or bored. A Border Collie will reward its owner with loyalty, protection and companionship if their owner provides the same to them.
