When we were kids, we always had animals. When I was a small child, we had a cross breed called Patches. From there my father brought home a German Shepherd who we named the traditional GSD name Sheba. We were in love with the breed.
Upon moving to Taree, Dad purchased a GSD bitch from Anne Bertram of Rainbow Flat, Berchil Sarah. This was a total surprise to the family. Dad was never without Sarah, his Landrover was never without this beautiful Grey Sable Girl. A couple of years later Dad decided to obtain his Breeders Prefix “Bernloch”. This name was a combination of his two favourite racehorses, Bernborough and Tulloch.
Dad, with the help of Anne Bertram, bred two litters of mainly sable babies. One of these I kept, Bernloch Chloe, and she was my introduction to the show scene.
Upon Dad’s passing I took up his prefix and have bred under his prefix for the last 20 years.
I have now introduced Jack Russell Terriers to the mix as they are the most adorable little people, and really are a big dog in a little dogs body. We are a kennel that breeds for temperament first and foremost. I want our puppies to be loving little individuals who will give their owners/carers a life time of love and enjoyment. We have a responsibility as breeders to ensure that only the best traits are passed on from generation to generation.
We have established an impressive base of bloodlines to produce what we think will be exceptional puppies for show, obedience and most importantly family companions.
I would like to thank Lorraine King, Kerry and Sharon from Moonmagik Kennels, Lee & John Martens, Laurelle Reilly and Kathy Triffitt for the beautiful animals that we have purchased from them and that stand as the foundations of Bernloch Kennels.
