Makoya is a newly formed, small-scale breeder located in North Brisbane, Queensland, specializing in the beloved Golden Retriever breed. With a profound passion for these divine dogs, we embarked on this journey after a joyous experience welcoming our own Golden Retriever, Madi, from a fellow ANKC registered breeder. Our commitment to the breed is reflected in our adherence to all ANKC guidelines, ensuring that our breeding practices contribute positively to the gene pool and the overall health of the breed.
As an active member of Dogs Queensland, we prioritize the well-being of our dogs by conducting all mandatory medical tests. Madi has exemplary hip and elbow scores, along with clear eye and heart certificates from specialists. Future breeding dogs will also undergo DNA testing for ICT-A status (Ichthyosis) and PRA 1 & 2 status (Progressive Retinal Atrophy). We are dedicated to breeding only with UK and European bloodlines, with the clear intention of bettering the breed and enhancing its genetic diversity.
At Makoya, we believe in fostering a strong connection with future “pawrents.” To facilitate this, we provide continuous updates through a private Facebook group, allowing families to watch their puppies grow and thrive in a nurturing environment until they are ready for their forever homes at eight weeks old. We are excited to share this journey with you and look forward to being an integral part of the Golden Retriever community.
