Detailed Information

Gunnedah Veterinary Hospital has proudly served the Gunnedah community for over 50 years, establishing itself as a cornerstone of animal care in Northern New South Wales. Located at 14-16 Barber Street, the hospital operates from purpose-built facilities designed to provide optimal care for a diverse range of animals, including livestock, horses, cats, dogs, exotics, and various wildlife. The hospital features separate wards for dogs and cats, two consulting rooms to minimize waiting times, and a fully equipped surgery that accommodates both soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. With modern monitoring equipment and in-house imaging capabilities such as X-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy, Gunnedah Veterinary Hospital ensures that every patient receives the highest standard of care.

Founded by Dr. Phil Knight, the practice began in a small building on Mullaley Road before relocating to a cottage on Wandobah Road, where it underwent several modifications to enhance its services. In 1977, Dr. David Amos joined the practice, eventually taking ownership in 1986. The hospital moved to its current location in 2007, and under the leadership of Dr. Chelsea Mitchell since 2022, the team has expanded to include 17 dedicated staff members. The hospital’s rich history reflects a commitment to evolving veterinary practices while maintaining a strong connection to the local community, as both Chelsea and her husband Jamie are proud Gunnedah locals.

The philosophy of Gunnedah Veterinary Hospital centers on compassion, expertise, and a deep love for animals and their owners. The team is dedicated to providing thorough and kind treatment, ensuring that every pet receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs. The hospital’s reputation for professionalism and reliability is evident in the testimonials from satisfied clients who appreciate the team’s ability to handle emergencies and provide ongoing support for their pets’ health and well-being.
